Trainee chefs rise to the occasion for Anton Mosimann
CATERING students at Havering College are to pay homage to chef Anton Mosimann after being inspired by a visit to his London restaurant.
The students are holding a dinner in honour of their culinary hero at which they will recreate some of his legendary signature dishes.
The Fine Dining Anton Mosimann Experience will be held at the Jubilee Restaurant – an open-to –the-public facility based at the Havering College Quarles Campus in Tring Gardens, Harold Hill.
Students on the Level 1 and Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery courses are inviting Mosimann senior and his son Mark along to the four course gourmet feast on Tuesday, May 29. The college is making a limited number of tickets available to the public at £12.15 per head.
The students came up with the idea after spending a day at Mosimann’s - a private London dining club owned and run by the celebrity chef.
Mosimann had offered the tour after seeing Havering College catering students in action at WorldSkills at London’s ExCel last year. Their showcase event of a Pasta Show involved demonstrating fresh pasta dishes to thousands of visitors.
Havering College curriculum manager of Hospitality and Catering Nick Gunyon said: “Anton Mosimann spoke to our team at WorldSkills and told us he was impressed. It was fantastic to take up his offer of visiting his restaurant in Belgravia. The students had an amazing day and were shown around by Mark Mosimann. They were in awe of the place and it really has inspired them.
“The students were so excited when they came out and have decided to open the Jubilee Restaurant for a one-off Mosimann night. They will recreate some of his signature dishes and invite Anton and Mark Mosimann.”
