The Diploma for Legal Secretaries is for anyone interested in a career in a legal or business environment. The course will suit you if you work or want to work as a senior administrator or secretary in a business or legal environment. The course will help you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the legal sector.
You need some basic administration experience, but you don't need any previous qualifications or a current work placement.
To achieve the Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries, you must complete 3 mandatory units and 4 optional units or 4 mandatory units and 1 optional unit for the Legal Studies.
Legal text processing and legal audio processing; Business skills in the legal environment; Proofreading in the legal environment.
Plus any 2 of the following optional units:
Legal spreadsheet processing; Legal database processing; Legal presentation techniques; Legal terminology.
The legal environment - Legal Studies
Plus 1 of the Legal Studies units:
Principles of criminal liability; Principles of contract liability; Principles of negligence; Family law.
This course has been designed to follow on from our Level 3 certificate and as such you will study advanced techniques and further develop your skills in the following areas:
There are also addition units that will be hand selected by the lecturers in order to give you a broader understanding of the legal sector.
If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).
