If you want to learn the basic administration skills needed to work in an office, then this is definitely the course for you. Alternatively, if you are not sure what you want to do as a career, but want to develop skills that will help you in any job, you might like to consider developing your admin skills.

You will study 5 units covering basic administration skills including:

  • Working in administration,
  • Creating business documents,
  • Making and receiving calls,
  • Welcoming visitors,
  • Handling diary systems.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop your ICT skills by studying mail merge and text processing, and will also study Personal and Social Development to prepare you for the world of work. Then, to put all your theory into practice, you will undertake a week's work experience.

This course is for you if you would like to have a career in office administration.

You will study 5 units covering working in administration, written business communication, communicating with customers, organising business travel and accommodation and organising meetings. You will also study text processing and word processing.

The aim of this apprenticeship is to provide employers in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors with a business and administration workforce who have the skills, knowledge and competencies to support business systems, processes and services who can contribute to making businesses more efficient and productive. It is also designed to meet the skills needs of employers by attracting new talent into a career in business and administration and help to up-skill the workforce to replace those who leave or retire.

The duration of this Apprenticeship is generally 12-18 months.

If you are looking for a career in an office environment, then this course will give you a thorough grounding in administrative, secretarial and personnal assistant (PA) skills.

This course has a mixture of practical and theory based units covering a wide range of topics. You will cover written business communication, customer service, career planning, teamwork, organising business travel, co-ordinating meetings and carrying out financial transactions and diary management. You will also develop your typing skills by studying text production and word processing. Then to put everything you have studied into practice, you will undertake 1 week's work experience.
