The objectives of this framework are to:

  1. contribute to increasing the number of existing staff qualified to Technician and Senior Technician Level;
  2. attract more applicants from women and other under-represented groups into Vehicle Body and Paint posts at Levels 2 and 3;
  3. develop problem solving, communication, team working, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills which are a priority for the Automotive Retail Industry;
  4. provide micro businesses, which account for around 85% of businesses in the Automotive Retail Industry, with access to a quality training programme to help their businesses grow;
  5. provide opportunities for career progression within Vehicle Body and Paint and into management in the wider Automotive Retail Industry;
  6. after further development and training, provide further and higher education for those who choose to do so.

The duration of this apprenticeship is generally 24 months.

The aim of this programme is to attract new people into Vehicle Maintenance and Repair from a wide range of backgrounds to replace those who leave or retire and to upskill the existing workforce in England. Objectives of this programme are to:

  2. Attract more applicants from women and other under-represented groups into Vehicle Maintenance and Repair jobs at Level 2 and Level 3;
  3. Develop problem solving, communication, team working, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills which are a priority for the Automotive Retail Industry;
  4. Provide micro businesses, which account for around 85% of businesses in the Automotive Retail Industry, with access to a quality training programme to help their businesses grow;
  5. Provide opportunities for career progression within Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and into the wider Automotive Retail Industry;
  6. Provide a pathway to further and higher education for those who choose to do so.

NEW DVSA MOT TESTER & MANAGER REQUIREMENTS

This CPD course will enable you to complete the requirements of the annual training subjects as specified each year by DVSA. The course includes the annual training and annual assessment.

Completing both the annual training and passing the annual assessment is required each year to maintain nominated tester status.

If you haven’t passed this assessment by March 2017 you can’t continue to MOT test

This CPD course will enable you to complete the requirements of the annual training subjects as specified each year by DVSA. The course includes the annual training and annual assessment.

If you haven’t passed this assessment by March 2017 you can’t continue to MOT test

You will work in a practical environment with workshop tools and equipment, building skills and techniques in the following areas of the industry:

  • Body Repair Processes
  • Routine Cooling and Lubrication System Checks
  • Routine Braking System Checks
  • Routine Wheel and Tyre Checks
  • Routine Vehicle Checks
  • Basic Vehicle Valeting
  • Light Vehicle Construction
  • Principles of Engine Components and Operation
  • Principles of Light Vehicle Steering and Suspension Systems
  • Principles of Component Fitting

You will also study to develop an understanding of motor vehicle workshop safety and the retail automotive maintenance and repair industry.

If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).
