Pipe dreams are realised
A LECTURER and two students from Havering College of Further and Higher Education have been rewarded for upholding high standards in the plumbing industry.
Plumbing tutor Mark Joseph together with students Luke Stockwell and Michael Hitches have received awards from the Sheriff of the City of London.
The ceremony at Carpenters’ Hall in London honoured the work of tradesmen in the capital as they progress in their careers.
It was organised by the Livery companies of London, of which the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, is one of the most ancient.
The awards recognise the three traditional stages of becoming a
craftsman – from apprentice, to the more experienced journeyman and finally a master.
Sheriff Peter Cook presented an Apprentice award to Luke Stockwell, 18, from Harold Hill.
Luke is on an NVQ Level 2 plumbing course at Havering College in Essex and an apprentice to the Brentwood-based plumbing business Lee Mapley.
A Journeyman certificate was awarded to Havering College NVQ Level 3 plumbing student Michael Hitches.
Michael, 20, from Romford, is employed by Birchcroft, of Harold Hill.
Havering College plumbing lecturer Mark Joseph, 42, from Bow, has achieved the status of Master.
Havering College curriculum manager for plumbing Ken Daniels said: “I am very proud of them all.”
